The Power of Small Wins |
Dear ,
In musicβand in lifeβitβs easy to focus only on the big milestones. But every great performance, every mastered piece, and every moment on stage is built on a series of small victories. Whether itβs learning a new chord, finally nailing that tricky rhythm, or just showing up to practice on a tough dayβthese little wins matter.
At Metro Music Makers, we believe in celebrating each of these moments. They build confidence, fuel motivation, and remind us that progress is happening, even when it feels slow.
For parents, one of the best ways to support your young musician is to notice and praise those small steps forward. A high-five after a good practice, a quick video to show off a new song to a grandparent, or simply saying, βIβm proud of how hard youβre workingβ can make a big difference. These simple acknowledgments help kids stay excited about learning and remind them that effort is just as important as achievement.
So letβs keep celebrating every little winβbecause together, they lead to something truly great.
Keep learning, keep growing, and let the music lead the way.

Congratulations to our March Student of the Month!
Congratulations to Mona Pham, our March MMM Student of the Month! Mona is eleven years old and takes voice lessons from Abigail Sykes and piano from Tony Gibson. She has been taking piano lessons for five-and-a-half years and voice lessons for five years, but her mom shares she has been singing since she was three.
Speaking of her mom, Mona shares that her mom has been a musical influence in her life. "My mom plays the piano, so she thought I would like to play it too," she explains. "I have always liked to sing, and I loved to sing Disney songs when I was really young."
Mona shares how she loves "the sounds and emotions in music, and when music makes someone smile."
Her favorite genre of music is pop, and her favorite musicians are Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Ed Sheeran.
Mona has a lot of interests in addition to music, including playing tennis and taking Bollywood dance classes, which she's been doing since she was four. She also likes to draw, play video games, and have movie nights with her family.
"My proudest accomplishment so far is being able to perform complicated piano songs that I love in Metro Music Maker recitals," Mona reflects. "I have another accomplishment that took place recently that I am also very proud ofβI played Elsa in my school's Frozen musical. I felt really proud to sing 'Let it Go' in front of my family, teachers, and all my friends!"
When asked which TV talent show she'd choose to be on, Mona says she would like to be on America's Got Talent. "I've seen many videos on YouTube of kids who do really cool things, and I'd love to be on it and sing," she says.
"I love going to school and having fun with my friends," Mona also shares. "One of my favorite things to do in school lately is to ask my class 'Would you rather...' and 'What is your favorite...' questions. Those surveys are a lot of fun and my friends find them very entertaining!" |
Mona's Faves:
Movie: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Star Wars: Episode IV β A New Hope, and the Descendants series
Favorite Food: Sushi, specifically spicy salmon rolls
Favorite Candy: Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme
Favorite School Subject: Math, because I like problem-solving
Future Plans: I would like to be a doctor like my dad and take care of people |
