Why We Created the Guitar and Piano

Comps and Evaluation Program

Dear ,

At Metro Music Makers, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to showcase their hard work, receive valuable feedback, and grow as a musician. After participating in various external programs, we saw a need for an evaluation program that welcomed all studentsβ€”regardless of genre or style. This led to the creation of our Guitar and Piano Comps and Evaluation Program, designed to be inclusive, supportive, and enriching for students of all levels.

Coming out of the challenges of COVID, our leadership team took the initiative to develop a curriculum that would empower our students through performance and evaluation. The results have been incredible, and those who have participated have experienced significant benefits:

🎡 A Sense of Accomplishment – Performing and receiving recognition fosters pride and validates the effort put into learning an instrument.

🎡 Actionable Feedback – Our judges provide constructive insights, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement, giving students a clear roadmap for growth.

🎡 Performance Experience – Submitting a recorded performance requires focus, preparation, and precision. In many ways, recording a great take can be even more challenging than performing live! This process encourages students to refine their playing, develop resilience, and learn valuable recording skills.

🎡 Skill Development – The process of preparing, performing, and receiving feedback refines musicianship and promotes continuous learning.

🎡 A Resume Builder – Participation is a meaningful achievement for college applications and extracurricular portfolios.

🎡 Character Building – Overcoming performance challenges strengthens resilience and shapes a student’s confidence in their abilities.

We also believe in celebrating progress:

✨ Piano and guitar participants each receive a digital certificate, with an optional hard copy and an award button available for an additional fee. For guitarists, the button is perfect for their guitar strap, while for pianists, it makes a great addition to their sheet music tote bag!

Last spring, we successfully launched our Piano Comps and Evaluation Program, and we were thrilled with the results! Looking ahead, we are currently exploring the addition of a Vocal Comps and Evaluation Program later this year.

If your student is ready to take the next step in their musical journey, don’t miss out!

πŸ“’ Registration for Guitar Comps closes this Friday, and Piano Comps registration is open until later in March.

We can’t wait to see our students grow, perform, and shine!

Keep learning, keep growing, and let the music lead the way,

Student Workshops Are a Great Replacement for Missed Lessons

We are continuing our exciting new student workshop series, designed to enhance our students' learning experience and boost their musicianship. These engaging masterclasses will focus on key areas of music theory, technique, and performance, giving our students the tools and confidence to excel as a musician.

Bonus: We understand the importance of making up missed lessons, and our workshops offer a flexible and beneficial alternative. Each workshop counts as one make-up lesson, regardless of its duration, offering more options for our students to stay on track with their studies. However, due to limited space, sign-ups are on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t delay in securing a spot.

Our first round of of workshops will start soon, so register your child today!
