With our student showcase coming up this Sunday, many families are preparing for a big moment. You might notice a mix of excitement and nerves at home, and thatβs completely normal. Itβs part of what makes performing so meaningful.
Even if your child isnβt performing this weekend, these are great ways to start building confidence for future performances.
Encourage mini performances at home
Ask your child to perform their piece for you, just like they will on stage. When they finish, applaud, smile, and celebrate. Have fun with it. Invite them to take a bow or curtsey and really enjoy that moment.
Focus on encouragement, not correction
This is not the time to fine-tune every detail. Positive feedback builds confidence. Let their teacher handle the polishing. Your role is to help them feel proud.
Use imagination to ease nerves
Talk about what the performance might feel like. What will the room look like? What will it sound like when people clap? Visualizing a positive experience can make a big difference.
Share your own experiences
Whether itβs performing, presenting, or speaking in front of a group, sharing how you felt and what you remember about the applause helps normalize those nerves.
Keep things consistent
Encourage regular practice this week, but keep it light and routine. A little each day goes a long way.
At the end of the day, this performance is about more than getting every note right. Itβs about confidence, courage, and sharing something meaningful.
We canβt wait to see them shine on Sunday.
Keep learning, keep growing, and let the music lead the way.
