Make a Date with Your Creativity |
Dear ,
This week, we wrapped up our spring book club discussion of Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, and what an inspiring, energizing conversation it turned out to be! One of the big themes we explored was how we each stay motivated to create. Some of us thrive on habits and routines (thank you, Atomic Habits), others wait for the spark of inspiration, and many of us land somewhere in between.
One idea that really stuck with us was Gilbert’s approach to scheduling a “date” with creativity—treating it like something sacred, worth showing up for, no matter what. Whether it’s writing, making music, solving problems, or experimenting in the kitchen, creativity isn’t just for the arts. It’s for anyone curious and willing to try.
We also loved the way she reframed rejection and failure. Early in her career, Gilbert collected rejection letters and even celebrated them as evidence that she was doing the work. It was a refreshing reminder that failure is not something to fear. It’s part of the creative process—and sometimes even a badge of honor.
As we move into summer, we encourage you to make space for your own creative “dates” without pressure, without perfection, and with the freedom to fail forward.

Keep learning, keep growing, and let the music lead the way.
