The Places We Go β€” and the Music We Bring Along

Dear ,

Summer is a time of motionβ€”road trips, airport layovers, new landscapes, and favorite destinations. And just like a trusted travel companion, music often comes along for the ride. Whether it’s a playlist for the car ride to the beach, a ukulele packed for a camping trip, or a song discovered in a new country that lingers long after the trip ends, music travels with us, and it transforms how we experience the world.

At Metro Music Makers, we love hearing about the places our students go and the music that goes with them. Some pack their instruments to keep practicing, some discover new sounds while abroad, and others simply bring their creativity wherever they land. No matter where you go this summer, your musical journey keeps going too.

Quick Tips: Keeping the Music Going On the Go

Whether you're heading to the mountains, the beach, or Grandma’s house, here are a few easy ways to stay musical wherever your summer takes you:

Pack a Pocket-Sized Instrument
Ukuleles, mini keyboards, harmonicas, and travel guitars are all great companions for on-the-road jam sessions.

Need ideas? We’ve curated a list of travel-friendly instruments and accessories to make packing music even easier.

Use Tech to Your Advantage
Download music apps like GarageBand, Simply Piano, Yousician, or a metronome/tuner before you go. Many have offline modes, so you can keep practicing without needing Wi-Fi.

Start a Travel Song Journal
Write down melodies inspired by new places, or keep a log of music you hear along the wayβ€”street performers, radio stations, or unfamiliar genres.

Make a Travel Playlist
Let your student help build the ultimate road trip or plane ride soundtrack. Later, those songs will bring back the memories of summer adventures.

Keep It Short and Sweet
Even ten minutes of music a day can make a difference. Try "mini practice" sessions in the morning or before bed.

Record Your Adventures
Encourage students to use Voice Memos to capture new song ideas or musical inspiration while it's fresh.

Wherever your family travels this summer, we hope you have a safe, enjoyable trip and that you bring the joy of music along for the ride!

Keep learning, keep growing, and let the music lead the way.

Summer Student Spotlight: Aaditya Ravikumar

It's so fun when our college students come back to take lessons or, as in the case of Aaditya, to perform! Aaditya, who is on summer break from the University of South Florida, joined Greg Drews and the Truth on stage recently, reminding us just how incredible he is at shredding that guitar.

Check out some of the performance!

Is your child doing something fun with their music this summer? We'd love to hear about it and share the fun news! Let us know at info@metromusicmakers.com.
