Love Is in the Air β€” and It Sounds Like Music

Dear ,

February always carries a certain kind of magic. With all of its focus on love and relationships, this month feels like a natural time to reflect on why that matters.

Music often sits at the center of our most meaningful moments, whether we realize it or not.

This Valentine’s Day is especially meaningful for me. I’m getting married on February 14, and music will be at the heart of our celebration. Instead of a traditional reception, I’ll be hopping up on stage to perform a few songs with several MMM’ers, including our amazing office team, Nita and Joni, backed by Mark and Victor’s cover band, Dog Mullet. And yes, there will be mullets. 🎸🎀

That moment captures what music does best, bringing people together and creating something shared in real time.

This month reminds us that music is one of the most powerful ways we express care, presence, and community. It’s not just about notes or technique. It’s about relationships, shared experiences, and showing up together.

Thank you for being part of the Metro Music Makers community and for trusting us to be part of your musical journey. We’re honored to keep creating meaningful connections, one note, one lesson, one song at a time.

With gratitude and love,

Allison Jarrell 🎡

Founder & CEO

Keep learning, keep growing, and let the music lead the way.

P.S. Want to see if the mullets are real? Keep an eye on our socials later this month for some "Dog Mullet" highlights and wedding music clips! Until then, we’d love to hearβ€”what is the one song that always reminds you of someone you love?

Welcoming two new teachers to our team!

It's a joy to see our talented team grow, and we're starting off the year with a bang with four new teachers. Today, meet two of them: Camille Carmichael and Garrett Kephart.

Camille will be leading our preschool music classes, and a quick glance at her bio will demonstrate how she is the perfect teacher for our youngest musicians!

Camille has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting and a minor in Dance, along with six years of professional voice training. She has performed professionally in Ohio and Atlanta across musical theatre, dance, and film, bringing a strong foundation in performance and vocal technique to every project.

Camille has been teaching since she was 16 years old, giving her over 10 years of teaching experience. After graduating from college, Camille earned her Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification and worked in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with high-support autistic children. She has taught dance and theatre for many years and currently serves as a youth ensemble manager for professional theatre productions, as well as a director for children. Additionally, she is the Pre-K program director at her dance studio.

Camille’s mission in teaching is to provide valuable arts education for her students so they can connect with themselves and what truly matters to them, while discovering and creating their artistic voice. β€œI strive to cultivate a safe, inclusive, positive, and colorful atmosphere in which they can thrive and carry with them forever,” she shares.

Being silly with the young children in her classes is a must for Camille. β€œI believe that my silliness creates a fun and engaging atmosphere like no other,” she explains. β€œI especially love the time before recitals, when I can spend time with my littles and celebrate them right before they go on stage.”

Garrett holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Kennesaw State University. While his formal degree is outside of music, Garrett’s musical education has been built through years of practical training, private study, and hands-on performance experience across multiple genres and settings. A multi-instrumentalist with a strong foundation in music theory developed through band and orchestra programs, independent study, extensive ear training, and private lessons, Garrett’s background includes advanced rhythm, harmony, and ensemble skills, supported by prior piano and music theory knowledge. He also gained knowledge as a record studio intern, where he assisted with session setup, signal flow, and recording workflows, gaining practical insight into how musicians perform, communicate, and collaborate in professional studio settings.

Garrett has worked as a high school band teacher, supporting students in ensemble playing, music literacy, and performance preparation. He has also served as a worship leader and music mentor in church settings, where he coached musicians and vocalists, led rehearsals, and helped develop players within a collaborative team environment.

Garrett teaches guitar, bass guitar, piano, and ukulele across all genres, and he teaches banjo and mandolin in the genres of folk and bluegrass.

β€œAbove all, I believe learning music should be engaging, meaningful, and fun,” Garrett continues. β€œLearning music is like learning a language. It’s just another way we can unlock to express ourselves.”

Garrett has written and produced songs totaling over 300,000 streams across all streaming platforms. He enjoys the outdoors, backpacking, camping, rock climbing, hunting, and fishing. Garrett loves playing and listening to all types of music, from bluegrass to Midwest emo to ATL rap. He also really enjoys anime and loves trying food from all over the world.
