It’s fall break! I’m spending part of the week in Seattle visiting my sister and soaking up the beautiful Pacific Northwest views. We’ve definitely been eating our way through the city. Somehow, we always manage to turn our visits into our own little restaurant and coffee shop tour. (The ice cream in the photo? Totally worth it! 😂)

Taking breaks from our normal day-to-day, even from our music practice routines, is so important. When we step away for a little while, our minds have time to rest, recharge, and make sense of what we’ve been learning. It’s like hitting the “refresh” button for our creativity and focus.
I’ve noticed that when I take a short break from the piano, I often come back to find that something that felt challenging before suddenly feels easier. Our brains are amazing at processing and strengthening connections even when we’re not actively practicing!
So whether your break involves travel, family time, or just a slower pace at home, remember that rest is not wasted time. It’s part of growth.
Even though Metro Music Makers lessons are still in full swing this week, we hope you find a little time to slow down, reset, and enjoy a break from your usual routine. Sometimes the smallest pauses make the biggest difference.
Keep learning, keep growing, and let the music lead the way.
