Let the Music Conversations Begin! |
|
Dear ,
We kicked off our first summer camp this morning, and what a joy it was to welcome our newest group of young rock stars! One of the first challenges we gave our campers was to name songs, bands, or artists they like—and while a few shouted out favorites with confidence, many needed a little help getting started.
This moment reminded us of something powerful: the music children hear at home or in the car—and the conversations around it—play a big role in shaping their musical world.
If your child is attending camp this summer (or even if they aren’t), we encourage you to talk with them about the music you love. Ask them what songs make them feel happy, excited, or even a little emotional. Share your own favorites and the memories connected to them. Whether it’s classic rock, jazz, pop, classical, or country, these conversations help children learn how to express their preferences and build a personal relationship with music.
Parents have an incredible influence here. By simply sharing your playlists, talking about lyrics, or pointing out favorite instruments in a song, you’re helping your child develop not only musical tastes, but also the language and confidence to talk about what they hear and feel.
At Metro Music Makers, we’re all about nurturing these musical journeys—and they start right at home.
Keep learning, keep growing, and let the music lead the way.
