This past weekend, I had the honor of serving as a judge for the Battle of the Bands at the Alpharetta Arts Center, and it was such an inspiring experience.
Teen musicians from across North Fulton and the metro Atlanta area took the stage and gave it their all. Some performed original songs, while others put their own twist on favorite covers. Every band brought something unique, and the energy was electric. It was a great reminder that the future of live music is in good hands.
The event was hosted by Jackson Heaton, classic hits host on The River 97.1 FM, and the winning band, Hotels in Peru, took home a $750 Guitar Center gift certificate. I’d love to see these guys play a full set sometime. They were fantastic!

Watching these young performers reminded me of how powerful it is when musicians come together. Playing music with others builds confidence, creativity, and community in a way that solo practice just can’t. That’s why at Metro Music Makers, we’re so passionate about creating opportunities for kids to collaborate and perform together.
If your child has ever dreamed of being in a band, now’s the perfect time to get started. Our Thanksgiving Week Rock Band Camp at the Alpharetta Arts Center is coming up soon! Kids ages 7–13 will form a band, write a song, make their own instruments, and perform by the end of the week.

Registration is OPEN for Winter Showcase 2025!
Metro Music Makers is excited to announce our Winter Showcase 2025, to be held on Saturday, December 6. This one-day event will allow Metro Music Makers students to celebrate with family and friends while showcasing the progress they have made with their music.
