When Life Hands You Stage Fright⦠|
|
Dear ,
Last Friday, we had the honor of being the title sponsor for TigerFest at Tritt Elementary in East Cobbβa fantastic event that raised funds for their music program. As part of our sponsorship, the Metro Music Makers Rock Band Class kicked off the event with a live performance onstageβ¦ but not everything went according to plan.
Just before showtime, our lead singer fell illβand in true "show must go on" fashion, guess who grabbed the mic? Yepβ¦ me.
To say I was nervous would be an understatement. I spent the day practicing Lovefool and Hazy Shade of Winter on repeat, and we didn't even get to rehearse together beforehand. But our incredible teen band didnβt miss a beat. They jumped into action with leadership, kindness, and flexibilityβeverything we hope to instill through music education.
We had only a few minutes to warm up and run a song unplugged off to the side, and then it was go time. Watching these students come together, support one another, and give it their all was one of my proudest moments as an educator and musician. They embodied every one of our core values:
πΈ Be Authentic
πΈ Bring Your Best
πΈ Collaborate with Kindness
πΈ Pursue Growth
πΈ Be Flexible
Youβll have another chance to see them in action at our student showcase on May 11βand trust me, theyβre going to blow you away.
Keep learning, keep growing, and let the music lead the way.

Metro Music Makers around town!
Allison Jarrell, our Founder and CEO, has been taking the message of Metro Music Makers all around townβor rather, all around the internet!
Earlier this month, she recorded a podcast with Bill Hoban of Century 21 Connect Realty to talk all things Metro Music Makers, from our music therapy program to how our online lessons program got its start. Check it out and see if you learn anything new about your favorite music lessons company! |

Allison was also able to share about our Metro Music Makers family when she was selected as the featured member in the Music Therapy Association of Georgia's monthly newsletter for April. Here's an excerpt from her interview:
What brought you to the field of music therapy?
I started piano lessons when I was 6, and from the very beginning, music felt like my safe place. I was that kid whose parents begged them to go outside and play with othersβbut I was happiest at the piano. Over time, I developed a deep love for the instrument that guided me toward pursuing music as a career. I transferred to Florida State University in my junior year as a performance major, but soon realized I didnβt want to spend all my time alone in a practice room. Thatβs when I discovered the field of music therapy. The idea of helping people through musicβthe thing I loved most, and the thing that had βsavedβ me at timesβfelt like the most natural and meaningful direction I could take. |

What Parents Are Saying |
|
"I would absolutely recommend Tony Gibson for piano lessons! My son has been taking lessons with Tony for almost a year now and to see him enjoy his lessons and improve week by week is so incredible. Tonyβs approach to teaching brings a strong passion for music, and his knowledge and inspiration are what makes his students learn and shine!"
