Dear ,
One of the things I’m most proud of at Metro Music Makers is the incredible heart our teachers and therapists bring to their work every single day.
Many of you saw that passion firsthand at our Spring Showcase. You saw the preparation, encouragement, patience, and excitement that helped our students walk onto that stage feeling confident and supported. Those performances didn’t happen by accident. They happened because of teachers who genuinely care.
But what makes our team so special goes far beyond lessons and performances.
Our instructors and therapists are constantly finding ways to bring music into the community and create meaningful experiences for others.
Recently, Glenn Anthony shared a world music presentation at a local school, introducing students to instruments, rhythms, and musical traditions from around the globe.
Camille Carmichael helped organize our very first preschool performance events for some of the schools we work with. Watching those little ones light up while sharing songs they learned was something truly special for families, teachers, and our staff alike.
Our music therapist, Macy Ellis, spends time at the Memory Cafés organized by Jewish Family & Career Services, where music becomes a tool for connection, comfort, and shared experiences for individuals and families affected by memory loss.
And if you didn’t already know this fun fact, Mark Grundhoefer and Victor Ezquerra have a cover band called Dog Mullet—and yes, you absolutely need to check them out. Mark is also constantly encouraging students to get out into the community and perform at local venues, helping them build confidence and real-world experience as musicians.
Honestly, I could keep going.
What I love most is that our teachers don’t see music as something that only happens during a 30-minute lesson each week. They see music as something that builds confidence, creates belonging, strengthens community, and brings people together.
That passion spreads. It inspires students to keep learning, families to stay engaged, and communities to value the arts in deeper ways.
I’m incredibly grateful for this team and the impact they continue to make throughout the metro Atlanta area every day.
And to our students and families — thank you for being part of it with us.
