I’ve been home sick this week—not exactly how I planned to spend the days leading into summer. But if there’s one thing being under the weather forces you to do, it’s slow down.

And in that slowing down, I’ve found myself noticing the small things—the comfort of a warm cup of tea, the power of a good song when you’re not feeling your best, the quiet satisfaction of crossing even one thing off your to-do list.

It reminded me how important it is to celebrate the little victories in life and in music.

At Metro Music Makers, we talk a lot about progress. But progress doesn’t always mean a flawless recital or a big breakthrough in a lesson.

Sometimes it looks like picking up your instrument even when you're tired. Or playing the same song for the tenth time and noticing it gets a little smoother. Or smiling at the end of a hard practice session because you didn’t give up.

These are the small wins—and they matter.

So this week, wherever you are in your musical journey, I invite you to slow down just enough to notice the little things. They add up. They always do.

Keep learning, keep growing, and let the music lead the way.

Our spring semester ends May 31, and the week preceding that (May 25-31) will be a flex week. Depending on your teacher's availability, you can use that week to have your child complete a makeup from the spring semester, you can take the week off, or your child can go ahead and get started on their summer lessons if you know they will be missing weeks later in the summer. Please make sure to communicate with your teacher about your summer plans, as well as theirs!
